Arts & Facts Welcome to Arts & Facts, our vibrant bilingual arts program where creativity meets curiosity! Each week, children dive into hands-on 2D and 3D art projects inspired by nature, seasonal celebrations, world cultures, and their own interests. While sculpting with our signature masita (modeling clay), painting, building, and crafting with recycled and natural materials, students also explore fun facts, expand their vocabulary, and develop new art techniques. New lessons each semester! Drawing basics balancing classic arts education and fun. Basic does not mean boring! Students will build upon their understanding of geometric shapes to create more complex images while learning the use of line, form, space, and perspective to complete drawings that are, ultimately, all their own. This class offers weekly step-by-step single subject drawings designed to scaffold the elements of drawing while improving handwriting and fine motor skills. Parents of students who have taken this class one or more times have reported not only remarkable improvements in handwriting and fine motor skills but also persistence, patience, and confidence in their student. FORE!!! Overtime Sports Golf program is designed to instill important life skills and character building qualities that are essential for the development of each student. The program provides students with beginning, intermediate, and advanced level junior golfing instruction in a no-pressure environment. Students will learn golf history, etiquette, grip, stance, posture, putting, specialty shots, and a variety of other skills. Each student will have a precise understanding of how the game is played from tee to green. Students who demonstrate aptitude and interest for the sport can advance their golf skills to the competitive level, while others can participate in the sport for fun. Please wear PE type clothes. Drawing! Creative Writing! Character Development! Sequential art and creating comics combines drawing, creative writing, and character development teaching skills beyond basic arts like sequencing, and creative and critical thinking. All while having fun, of course! Using prompts and activities, students will develop their own characters and story lines creating a book of their own comics by semester’s end! Modeling Clay In this class, students will craft magical art pieces using our famous “Masita,” an air-dry modeling clay available in a limitless array of colors. Junior LEGO Robotics and More! Grades 1-2 - This is different from the fall. This Junior Lego Robotics course provides an exciting, hands-on introduction to the world of robotics. No prior experience with robotics is necessary. During each session, students will explore concepts of working with and programming robots using a number of different platforms, including LEGO, Sphero and more. Students will investigate topics including how robots use attachments to complete tasks and how to program a robot without using a computer! Returning students will encounter new challenges, allowing them to build on their previous robotics knowledge. Program-specific questions? Senior Robotics - Sumo Bots! This class is different from Fall. Grades 3-5. Senior Robotics serves as an extracurricular enrichment program that encourages the exploration and application of STEAM-based principles through building and programming robots. No previous experience with robotics is necessary. For the spring, we will explore the world of Battle Bots and compete in our own TRI ROBOT SUMO CUP! Teams of students will compete to out-program, out-design and out-build their peers in a friendly competition between schools at the end of the term. Using the LEGO MINDSTORM EV3 and RC battle bot platforms, students will learn programming and building skills that will translate nicely to the FLL competition we compete in each Fall. For those not necessarily interested in competing in the SUMO challenge, there will be options to build a host of helper bots as well as the robotic arena itself. Returning students will be given the freedom to build upon past experiences on new platforms and challenges. Activities focus on honing critical thinking skills, perseverance and teamwork as students learn to program, use sensors and design attachments. In addition to building a robot for the competition, we will take time out of each session to explore other robotics platforms as we expand our robotic horizons. STE(A)M Craft: This is not your ordinary STEM Program, because we are bringing creativity to STEM (not the other way around). During STE(A)M Craft, we will dive deep into our creative, curious, and experimental nature using quality STEM resources. Throughout the program, students will be given unique engineering challenges built around fascinating STEM topics such as chaos theory, compliant mechanisms, chain reactions, and more. Soccer with Overtime Sports is an active program for boys and girls designed to develop an interest in the game and establish a solid foundation in preparation for recreational or club soccer. We are able to accomplish this by making sure the number one ingredient is present at all times: FUNdamentals! Students will learn various elements of the game such as passing, trapping, dribbling, shooting, and ball control. The sessions are composed of exciting games such as Terminator, Sting Ray, and World Cup. Team Sports with All Star Athletics: This class has it all! Kickball, Dodgeball, Capture the Flag, Flag Football, Tee-Ball and other Team Sports and games that are going the way of the dinosaur in traditional sports curriculums. Children 1st-5th will have an opportunity each week to compete in an encouraging low stakes environment where they learn to work together in order to accomplish victory! Coaches will divide teams based on age and ability to provide fun but competitive matchups where Children will be encouraged! Tennis Principals with All Star Athletics: Fun and Finesse is the name of this game! Children K-5th will learn the 101 on Tennis while focusing on agility, footwork, sportsmanship and a variety of shots including Volley's and Groundstrokes! All equipment is provided including racquets, nets, low compression and foam safety tennis balls etc. Our Coaches will also provide fair and fun games and drills so that children of all ages and abilities can work at their own pace and be challenged in a low stakes environment. Grounded Kids Yoga Club Grounded Kids Yoga Club helps children learn how to ground themselves when overwhelmed, recharge when low on energy, and stay focused when distracted. Through purpose-driven yoga poses, breathing techniques, games, and mindset practices, they build confidence, emotional awareness, and self-regulation. These skills often carry into the classroom, friendships, and everyday life. Students receive their own yoga mat and strap to bring each week, along with engaging Grounded Kids Yoga supplies to keep.
